Nature

Being in nature is extremely healing. So let’s take our sessions outside! Nature based sessions offer the chance to feel extra support and connection to Earth.

Weight Neutrality

Human bodies are diverse in weight, size and shape. And all bodies are worthy and deserving of respect. As a dietitian, I approach food and body healing from a place of weight neutrality, meaning that I actively seek to challenge fatphobia, and will never recommend weight loss or restrictive eating. Using a Health at Every Size approach, we will work together on your healing goals in a way that supports your wellbeing and embodiment.

Compassion

Being in a human body can be painful, and the choice to do healing work is brave. I invite all parts of you to our nutrition therapy work.

Core Values

  • Autonomy & Consent

It is important that your healing path feels authentic to you. The decisions you make as you heal such as what you share, how you share, and our pace are your choice. Any question I ask, or education I offer is simply an option, and I always welcome a “No.”

  • Humans are nature

Human beings are not separate from nature. We are part of nature just like the trees, water, and other animals are. Therefore we can tap into nature as an ally in our healing and allow ourselves to be supported by the body of Earth. Nature soothes the nervous system, offers us beauty, and teaches us about the joy of diversity.

  • Open & Honest Communication

Solid communication helps make a sturdy base for our nutrition therapy work. I will be open and honest in all aspects of our work, and welcome you to be as well. If you have questions, concerns, or ideas during our work together, I am all ears!

  • Harm Reduction

The way you have survived in your body is intelligent. You and your body know how to keep you alive, and have done the best you can with the circumstances you have experienced. Harm reduction means acknowledging that some choices or survival strategies may cause you harm and it is possible to reduce harm should you choose to engage with them. An example of harm reduction is avoiding brushing your teeth right after vomiting to avoid further damage to tooth enamel.

  • Curiosity & Compassion

Healing work allows you to know yourself on a deeper level and align more fully with your core values. And it may bring forth parts of you that feel challenged, in pain, threatened, discouraged, tender, scared, angry or disgusted. I welcome all parts of you with compassion and curiosity.

  • Invitation to Embodiment

Embodiment is your felt sense of being in your body. In this culture, we are not necessarily taught how to embody our bodies, and are disconnected in many ways. I will open the invitation for you to embody your body if you would like to. Strengthening embodiment can look like increasing connection to hunger and fullness cues, uncovering authentic food and movement preferences, or building a stronger relationship to your body through body image healing.

  • “Sydney was affirming and candid about systemic issues at play in my journey. It was supportive to have issues like race, gender, and body privilege acknowledged during my sessions.”

    - Former Client

  • “Sydney's 1:1 support has facilitated the single most impactful shift in my well-being. After spending decades looking in all the wrong places for comfort, peace, and freedom around food and body, I found it… I am so grateful. Thank you!”

    -Former Client

  • “It was helpful to have tangible knowledge points to replace old ones (some examples that come to mind: the food needs pyramid, causes of low blood sugar, relationship between fiber and blood sugar). Self discovery was well-balanced with new information that helped me learn new practices and ways of thinking.”

    -Former Client

  • “Sydney asked very good questions and provided ample time for me to explore my thoughts and feelings (especially the latter). This allowed me to get to the root of many of my negative beliefs about my body/food choices.”
